What are two cool gals with an inability to sleep to do at 2 am? Why, eat at Yoshinoya! It was our first time too. I actually have an excuse for my insomnia, as I just got back from Canada and haven't adjusted to Japan time. But Bec's just being a Bec. Uh, we had some kind of beef bowl thing. It was sweet (literally!). Yeah yeah, I'm still awake at past 6am...
We also ate Mexican food tonight at the sparkly new Aeon shopping mall. Here we are, paused on the escalator pondering our upcoming delicious meal. Me gusto el alimento mexicano!
Today Tristan, the world's most dashing Englishman, and I went to The Absinthe Cafe in Shinsaibashi. We drank.... you guessed it, absinthe! The experience of drinking absinthe far outstrips the actual taste of the drink, which is, to say the least, completely vile. Like drinking extract of black licorice, yuck. My absinthe was stronger than Tristan's, so that makes me a cooler person.
Went to the Tennoji zoo in Osaka yesterday. Oh yeah! It was my first time. I still feel Japanese zoos don't have big enough cages for their animals, but anyways, I enjoyed it. Especially the koalas! Too bad I couldn't take a picture T_T no cameras allowed. I did get a kick out of the monkeys, especially the chimpanzees who had some sort of domestic quarrel while I was watching them. The one pictured was my favourite, he's the philosopher. Tennoji is a pretty colourful area, and by colourful I mean full of drunks. One beer-chugging old man was slurring "Go Hanshin Tigers!" at the real tiger, who was clearly not impressed.
