I'm lovin' Himeji-jo!

W00T! Today was Himeji castle day! What an unusually active weekend. There was hardly any vegetating at all. How bizarre, how bizarre (remember that song? Yeah, me too). Anyways, this castle blew my mind. I am so building a replica of this place when I win the lotto and become a rich biatch. Really, though, it was beautiful. Unbelievably high too. The only troubling thing was the so-called oil wall, or "abura kabe". I read about this odd feature in the guide booklet and proceeeded to *not* find it anywhere. It really irked me. I became enraged and tore the foundation of this ancient fortress asunder in my unbridled fury. Well, more like whined about missing out on it. I'm telling you I looked for it! They made it using rice water! It sounded pretty neat... *SIGH*, foiled again.

Yu-chan forever!

Ooh, today I went ot the Aquarium. It was so wonderful! I love fish... but not in my mouth. Yu-chan is the pet name for the Aquarium's whale shark and THE best part of the exhibit. The jellyfish were pretty sweet but they were no match for the gentle giant that was Yu-chan! I want a Yu-chan screen-saver for my PC and just watch her endlessly, gracefully and mournfully circle the tank. Unfortunately, my pics of Yu-chan turned out all fugly so that's why you see the jellies instead. Oh, and a shout out to the sunfish. You are one hella ugly S.O.B.!

Woe is us!

This lizard looks how I feel... forlorn. Today went badly. I had to console myself with the purchase of several unnecessary items, including a shiny new Takarazuka magazine (sassy!). So anyways, back to this hideous semi-comatose night lizard. I kind of felt like giving the little guy a helping hand into the rice field, but it was so white and squishy that I couldn't bring myself to touch it. Sucks to be you, Lizzy.

誕生日おめでとう!

Happy Birthday, my darling Rachel! I hope you like the present I got you. Speaking of which, I hope Mother remembered where she put it. *If* you actually received it, you can at least stop snivelling about not owning the complete trilogy. "The way is shut. It was made by those who are dead, and the dead keep it. The way is shut." That's the best line, yeah? Hmm, now I wanna see it too. Maybe I'll go rent it from Tsutaya today... Hey, I think I left my Giant Robot magazine in your room. Can you send it to me? If you do, I'll mail you some more Miyavi pictures, dattebayo!

Be it ever so humble...

I'm back in Japan! I'll probably be wasted for the next week due to jetlag and the fact that my body is utterly incapable of dealing with changes in it's environment. I'll probably get sick too. Being back in Canada, I was able to indulge myself in the things I've missed: spending time with my family, seeing my old friends, and getting bread that has more than 4-6 slices per loaf! I mean, come on Japan! Look at this loaf of bread. This will last more than 2 or 3 breakfasts. The slices are manageably slim, making it easier to turn them into sandwiches or just bite into. Don't you see how much better it is this way?! It's time for some changes around here! The people have spoken!!
