NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Aww, crap! Today was election day in Canada. Guess who won??! Steven frickin' Harper! Gosh, I hate the Conservatives. Now that he's Prime Minister, he'll start toadying up to George W. Way to ruin my nice vacation, voting public of Canada. You guys suck!

Not delicious

Yes, it is cute, but do not try the fishcake. You will regret it. Deeply.

Jailbreak!

Ahh, 4 more days and mama, I'm comin' home. I was going to title this post "Leavin' on a jet plane", but quickly googling for a jet image confirmed that this quote was too overused by morons all over the interweb. I am excited. I was more excited last week, but work is beginning to wear me down. So I have to talk myself into staying focused on being excited. Kinda like how Rocky needs that shouty old man in the corner to motivate him to win fights... except for the fact that I'm just talking to myself. But we do manage to have some nice chats. (By the way, this is a picture I found of Vancouver. Wow, what an ugly dirty place!)

Public Service Announcement

News from the Steven Seagal website... he's released a cd: "The general public knew through his many films of action but it is another facet of his personality which emerges in 2004! This enthusiastic follower of Buddhism delivers an awesome album already bubbling on the charts in France! "Songs From The Crystal Cave" CD will be available for purchase on this website soon! Ingredients: Steven Seagal delivers titles to the American ultra consonances (blues, folk) but also of more directed songs world (ragga, Arab musics). Surrounded by prestigious guests (B.B. King, Stevie Wonder...), the actor adds a new cord to his arc!" Ooh, already a hit in France! FYI, Fieldsend, FYI.

Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu!

Tokyo e ikimashita! THAT was a cool trip. Ailish and I managed to see a big chunk of Tokyo in only a couple days, too. Rock on! We saw Ginza, Asakusa, Shibuya, Harajuku, 4 temples and one movie! (The movie wasn't great... it was great-kunai...) We had a lovely New Year's Eve there as well. My friend Keita joined us for the festivities on Saturday which mostly involved heavy sake drinking and then trying to remember how to say Happy New Year in Japanese (I think he was getting tired of repeating the phrase after the 20th time). The three of us went to Tokyo Tower with a couple thousand other revellers to watch the release of 2006 balloons at the stroke of midnight. Ailish was very put out that we didn't get to release any balloons- apparently, you needed to bring a special coupon or something. So, aside from me getting lost a few dozen times (only when I was away from Ailish and her map literacy), Tokyo was good fun.

City Lights

Tokyo was not as busy as I imagined. I was hoping it would rain, and I could fulfill all my cheesy Blade Runner-esque fantasies about dystopic urban life, but alas... Mother Nature once again mocked me by raining only after I got on the bus home. Curses- foiled again! Here is Shibuya. It was my favourite part of Tokyo (of the parts I saw) because... it looks like Tokyo, desu ne? I should like to add that I felt Ailish and I were a little plain in our sensible warm clothes and walking shoes compared to the exotic teenage fauna inhabiting Shibuya. But, it's nice to be home in my messy room again. My pillows and my futon are happy to see me, and the feeling is more than mutual :)
